“The Faces of Grief” — Don’t miss Kao Kalia Yang in the College of Liberal Arts Speaker Series!
I write of grief. The grief of being a refugee, living in a world creating more and more all the time. I write about the grief of parents and children and partings, natural and otherwise. I write of love and loss and yearning to love again. In my work, I revive what others might mistake as dead. In my life, I build stories around memories that are fragile and oftentimes fleeting. I believe in the dignity and the value of unburdening our hearts in the name of community and care. Come meet the many faces of grief with me, enter into the stories of refugees, and let us talk about what it means when belonging is a gift we can offer each other.
