I found the career fair to be very informative. The fun part was the goodies!
I missed this one! But here is another event that I found out about recently:
I’d like to invite you all to Metropolitan State University’s second Global Poetry Festival, which will be held on Friday, April 23rd from 7:00 pm till 10 pm at the Founder’s Hall Auditorium on the St. Paul Campus.
The event is FREE, parking is FREE, and there will be a FREE CATERED MEAL!
On top of this we will be hosting three members of the 2009 National Championship Poetry Slam team as our feature act. The team, which consists of Kyle “Guante” Myhre, Khary “6 is 9” Jackson, and Sierra Demulder competed against 68 teams from around the world last year in order to become National Champions. They are extremely talented individuals and will produce a dynamic show.
Our feature act will begin at 7:00 pm, and when they are done we will also be putting on Metropolitan’s first ever poetry slam, in which student poets will have a chance to compete for a grand prize.
What is a poetry slam? In short, it’s the completive side to poetry—a hybrid of theater performance and poetic reading. These student poets will have three minutes to wow a crowd, and impress judges who will score them on a scale of 1-10.
It is an exciting event for students here at Metropolitan. Student associations such as Women Empowered, Muslim Student Organization, Student Senate, and SAFAC have all contributed to this event, ensuring that it will be successful and entertaining for our studenty body. Hope you all can make it.
This is going to be AWESOME, Laura!
